Abstract:Awareness and Perception of the Artificial Intelligence in the Management of University Libraries in Nigeria Due to the growing presence of artificial intelligenceAIin developed countriesthis study investigates the awareness and perception about artificial intelligence in the management of university libraries in NigeriaThe study is a survey design that is based on both qualitative and quantitative approachesThe population of the study comprised eighty academic librarians from eight purposively selected university libraries in the countryThe finding of the study revealed that academic librarians are aware of the existence of AI usage in the university libraries and that the fear of job loss is the major constraint they face in the adoption of the technologieseven though they are aware that the innovative technologies will enable efficient user satisfactionThe study recommends the need for academic librarians to make themselves relevant in this era of the fourth industrial revolutionby acquiring necessary skills that are in line with the technologiesIt is also critical that library management educate academic librarians to understand that the adoption of AI in the library does not translate to the loss of jo Library AutomationIncrease user satisfaction through AIConsulting ServiceAI may be used to improve the efficiency of reference servicesThis study explores the academic library of the University of Nigeria Librarys understanding and views on artificial intelligence in library managementStudies have found that academic libraries do know the application of AI in the university librarybut their biggest concern is that they may lose their jobs due to the introduction of AIEven if they know that these innovative technologies will increase user satisfactionResearch suggests that academic libraries have obtained necessary skills related to these technologies in this era of the fourth industrial revolution to maintain their own correlationAt the same timelibrary management should also educate academic librariesand letting them understand that importing AI does not mean that they will lose their jobs
