Abstract:Autonomous Robot for Inventory Management in Libraries This paper proposes an autonomous robot to reduce laborincrease the efficiency of existing inventory management systems and provide a solution to develop an automated inventoryManaging a college library comes under inventory managementLike an inventory management systemthe library also faces problems with the availability of booksFor examplewhen a book gets returnedthe database gets updated and indicates that the book is availablebut one cannot find the book in its location as it has not been placed thereThe time and energy of the librarian are wasted as the books have to be placed back to its locationThese problems are solved by designing an inventory management robot that is implemented in a library to put the returned books back to its locationThe returned books are placed on the shelves of the robotThe robot scans the Radio Frequency IdentificationRFIDtag of books to get the shelf location of the books and then navigates through the library to the location where the book should be and places the book on its shelf thus making the book available quicklyThe innovation of this system is that since it works in a known environmentit does not run on complex SLAM techniquesthus reducing the complexity of the system while being relatively flexibleThis implementation also does not require any significant changes to be made to its environmentLibrary AutomationThis robot system is a library automation solution that is used to put the returned books back to its original positionThis article proposes an automated robot to improve the efficiency of the inventory management system and provide a solution for automated inventoryThe robot is implemented in the library and used to put the returned books back to its original positionThe RFID label of the robot scan the book is to obtain the position of the bookand then navigate to the location and put the book on its shelf
